About this Database
This database is a work-in-progress, and has been compiled from publicly available information by the membership of the Ohio Society U.S. Daughters of 1812.
This database should not be considered as “complete,” since there are other War of 1812 veterans buried in Ohio who have not yet been identified and included in this database. If you know of such a veteran, or have additional information or questions on an existing veteran’s record, please use the Email Response Form to submit this information.
While we have strived to make the information contained in the database as accurate as possible, errors may exist in the compilation.
The service of all of the individuals listed has not been verified. While we have attempted to verify as many as possible, there may be individuals listed who did not serve, or whose service may be in question. We have also found instances where the same service in an Ohio Militia Company has been claimed by several different counties' records for men buried in those counties. Further research is required in these instances.
In addition to listing veterans who served with the U.S. forces, this index also includes non-U.S. veterans whose final resting places lie within the state of Ohio; as well as veterans of conflicts like the Battle of Lake Erie, who were “buried at sea.” Individuals who provided service or material aid to the U. S. war effort are also included.
All photographs were taken for use in this site, or submitted by the photographer and used with the photographer’s permission.
Cemetery locations are approximate, based on USGS/GNIS locations, the Ohio Genealogical Society’s Ohio Cemeteries: 1803-2003, and cemetery transcription records.
Cemetery plot maps (where available) are from the WPA Veterans Graves Project, and were obtained through the county recorder offices.
Please contact the Ohio Daughters of 1812 with questions or for further information.
The database currently has 10120 entries, and was last updated at 2019-03-09 18:26:02 E.S.T.
